[Raine can tell Kratos isn't quite hearing her. He seems like he has to keep talking, like something more is pushing him along. She listens with the same intensity, resolving not to interrupt unless he needs prompting.]

[It takes her a few moments after Kratos goes silent to put all the pieces together. The sister of Mithos, the hero. A soul within the Seed of the Great Tree.]

[A life truly was sacrificed in order to take its place.]


...you're talking about Martel. She was... a person once, then. Not always a goddess.

[Raine feels almost ill. Kratos is implying the entire shape of the world -- worlds -- was caused by one person trying to resurrect his sister. At the cost of those worlds.]

How is this -- any of this -- even possible?

[Her tone is losing somewhat of her customary composure, despite her best efforts.]
