simulsimul: (in my heart there is a trace)

[Once upon a time, Kratos wouldn't have needed Yuan to say anything. It's been such a long time since there's been any telepathic link between them that the fact Yuan has to answer the affirmative so forwardly is almost painful ... as if Kratos can't hear the unsaid words between those spoken. As if he can't hear the admission that Yuan's been betraying them for centuries ... that he hadn't trusted Kratos enough to ask.]

I haven't been a person to him in a long time.

[That, too, is a soft admission, an equally painful one. Mithos hadn't even told him about his real plans until recently. Until then, Kratos had held out some vain hope that his word still mattered to Mithos; but as it turns out, Kratos has been his tool for a long time. He doesn't need motive; he just needs to obey, and not die, as far as Mithos is concerned.

[Kratos exhales and turns his head very slightly, just enough to irritate Yuan without actually ruining his work.]

You didn't need to put me in the refresher.
