simulsimul: (he feeds on pain)

[It's the first time Yuan's been quite so short, but it's not completely a surprise. Still, it had been an answer -- or at least to Kratos it had been an answer. To Yuan, apparently not sufficiently, and yet he hadn't demanded something more. So Kratos proceeds to finish the sweeping, and as much of the kitchen chores as he's able, taking each one slowly. He makes use of the washroom, as he hadn't earlier, and at least there's the stool; a sit-down wash will do for today.

[By the time he comes out Yuan has seemed to calm down, so Kratos starts learning to read after all; he wasn't sure whether that would happen. Neither of them mention the conversation again, though Kratos knows Yuan is watching him closely anytime he rises to walk. Kratos makes sure to take the day slowly and remembers to stretch his leg whenever he sits for a length of time. It pains him for most of the day, but his usual chores, taken even more slowly than normal, suffice to occupy him, and aren't outside of his capabilities.

[Days begin to pass again. The olive tree is duly moved to his room and the mandarin tree in the living-room, and its scent is much more appealing than the tomatoes which had been there. Yuan signs off on further fish deliveries, which means that Kratos begins throwing together some meals more along the lines he knows, with fish and vegetables and small sides of pasta -- though he doesn't quite have the olive oil to use, yet.

[He does pick a jar of olives to begin fermenting, and starts planning the equipment to press for oil. He also makes sure to take regular walks, if carefully, to test the capabilities of his leg and hopefully extend them. Between that and and learning to read enough to pick apart some of the books with fewer words, Kratos's boredom subsides somewhat.]
