[Kratos realises his mistake a split-second before Yuan speaks, about the time Yuan's eyes narrow. Damn it; he's overplaying his hand. He must be more discombobulated than he thought, though he's sure he didn't hit his head.
[Nothing about this situation should be throwing him so much, but it is.
[For one stubborn moment Kratos is inclined to hold out; but in the face of Yuan looming over him, and the logical consideration of the circumstances, Kratos has to reluctantly admit that the dice are thrown, and he's the loser.
[He drops his gaze, his jaw drawing tight; but after a moment he wordlessly pulls up his tunic. He can't manage it all the way, but it's enough to bare his side and part of his back. There are bruises already showing red from his tumble, but there are others too -- far too dark to have been caused by just the stairs, at various stages of healing. Some have an oddly specific shape: long, with straight lines; others are rounder, and mottled.
[There's one in particular which is spectacular, and not quite the same shape as the others. Kratos hasn't realised it, but it's showing in dual tones the faint shape of the engraving on the head of his cane.]
