conductingresistance: (and the man at the back)

[With bags and people handled, Yuan glances briefly to Kratos, but is almost instantly distracted by the joyful shrieking and the weeping that ensues.]

[...how long must it have been, since the family's seen each other? Between time at war and time imprisoned, it's surely been several months if not years, and Yuan is not yet so old that a year means nothing to him.]

[He stands and watches them for a while, feeling both like a voyeur and like he can't quite look away. His cloak snaps around him and he ignores it. Like this Yuan can feel himself softening, even just a little, and it's hard to be angry with Kratos.]

[...He still is, naturally, but it's something that can be dealt with later; and when he finally tears his eyes away to glance over at Kratos, Yuan finds him pointedly not-looking. That's right: Kratos actually has a family. One he won't see again, since he's more important and less free than Acacius.]

[Even happy things can taste bittersweet. Yuan gathers up the luggage from his passengers and moves it closer, checks back over his shoulder to see if Kratos is in need of help. He does not, pointedly, interrupt the family.]
