Not far -- relatively. Still on this side of the city.

That's the gate by which we entered. The district where the villa is located is past that, before the next gate; see those hills?
[The hills are, primarily, visible owing to some dwellings being higher than others, and the aquaducts following the line of the land.]
Most residences in this section of the city are related to the castle, military or civil service in some fashion.
